Between the Bays – Warren Orchards
Welcome to Between the Bays: Warren Orchards. We have proudly served our community with locally grown produce for 145 years.
Between the Bays: Warren Orchards is family owned and operated in Traverse City, Michigan. Warren Orchards was one of the first orchards on the peninsula, which began in 1867. The first owners of the orchard were John and Rebecca Warren, then Frank and Esther Warren. Next, it passed to Keith and Jean Warren. The orchard was taken over in 1975 by Keith’s son, Gary Warren and his wife Wendy, who still manage the farm.
When the farm was created in 1867, it started as 60 acres and as grown to 80. Back in the 1860s, the homestead was used as a half-way house. Wagons would stop there to water their horses before they went up Kelly Hill. The Warrens had a small store where they sold a few items such as fruit, vegetables, and tobacco to those who stopped. Now, they have a stand on Center Rd and one in their front yard.
Gary and Wendy Warren became partners with their son, Jeremiah Warren in 2009. At that time, they added Between the Bays to their business name to market their fresh fruit market. Together, they now have 125 acres where they grow cherries, apples, saskatoons, peaches, plums, nectarines and apricots, along with many other fruits and vegetables. Gary Warren is a 4th generation fruit farmer. Currently, three generations can be found working on the farm helping with everything from planting, harvesting and selling.
